Names and numbers
Every jersey in a set is a different piece of artwork, because every one has a different name and number on it. That is handled from the same size form the rest of the team fills in — each player enters their own name, number and size, and the sheet that comes out of it is what gets produced.
Matching the set
Kits go wrong when they are ordered in two batches and the dye lot shifts. One run, one lot, one production slot — so the substitute who joined late does not end up in a visibly different shade. If someone is added afterwards, that is a separate run and a close match rather than an exact one.
